It’s Mothers Day. Time to appreciate all the mothers out there. I don’t think you have to give birth to be a mother. We all know that Mom’s who adopt are just as much a mom as those who are bilogical moms, sometimes even more, and there are Aunts out there that help spin this world around. So today we celebrate the mothering not just the Moms.
I have had a Mom all my life, and a Step mom for 35 years. I have been a Mom for 21 wonderful years. Ok out of the 21 years of being a mom, not every day was wonderful. I questioned myself and my sanity. However I never questioned my love for my children. From the very first second I became a mother my life was no longer about me. So today instead of celebrating me, I celebrate the people that helped me become a Mom, the children who make me, me.
I tell my oldest, my daughter, that the day she was born my life was forever changed. She has continued to be a beacon of joy and inspiration in my life every single day. She is a beautiful, strong, brilliant, amazing woman. Honest, reliable, with a will made of steal. Problem solving, never whining, laugh generating all around fantastic human. I am not only proud to be her mom, but also her friend. My wish for you my dear is to remember to enjoy this life. You have been a grown up since you were 2. I love you.
My Oldest Son. We don’t always see eye to eye, this is true. I would battle any dragon if I thought I could help you. But there are somethings I can not teach, and these are the things in life you must experience yourself. As you go out in this world I just hope that I have helped you build a good foundation to build the rest of your life on. I love you.
My Youngest Son. You came to us as such a surprise. You have been loved by so many. Your heart is as tender and giving as I have ever seen. Your thoughtful and kind to everyone and even at your young age you understand helping other and giving of yourself is sometimes hard but always right. Your arms around me are like a hug from heaven, and your kisses are like bright rays of sun that warm my heart. I hope you continue to give selflessly, to help others, to welcome everyone with your gorgeous smile. I love you.
Before the kids I couldn’t imagine my life with kids, and now, I can’t imagine this being a life without them. They are my reason to get up in the morning, and my reason to draw every breath. Live this life, don’t just exist in it. So to my children. Happy Mothers Day, and Thank you. I love you.
